The cable-laying vessel OCEANUS 1, constructed by ATE Energy International in Vietnam, has recently entered service in Taiwan. This vessel will be utilized for underwater infrastructure and offshore energy projects in Taiwan, enhancing cable installation capabilities in the region.
Vessel Features and Capabilities
OCEANUS 1 is equipped with a 30-meter diameter cable carousel that can carry up to 8,000 tons of cable. The vessel has DPS 2 capability, a 250-ton hydraulic frame, jet trenching capability, and an SMD Quasar III work ROV. These features provide OCEANUS 1 with high capability for executing cable-laying operations.

Project Management and Support
The management of the vessel will be handled by Synergy Marine Group, which will provide technical services and crew management through its offices in Taiwan and neighboring areas. Additionally, Mermaid Subsea Services (Thailand) will be responsible for managing the cable-laying projects of this vessel. ATE’s Submarine Cables Department will also oversee the cable-laying activities and the deployment of the vessel.
OCEANUS 1 is capable of accommodating up to 77 personnel and is designed for long-term operations at sea. Ajay Chaudhry, co-managing director of vessel management at Synergy Marine Group, emphasized that the teams in Taiwan and the region have collaborated with ATE and will continue to support this vessel with the same diligence applied to every vessel under their management.
The arrival of OCEANUS 1 in Taiwan signifies ATE Energy International's commitment to developing and strengthening energy infrastructure in the region. This vessel will serve as a key tool in offshore energy projects and underwater infrastructure, bringing unique capabilities to address the challenges of this industry.
