Cheniere Energy has recently signed a 22-year agreement with Petrobras, under which the Brazilian company will purchase approximately 800,000 tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Cheniere annually. This contract is seen as a strategic step towards expanding Cheniere's export activities along the Gulf Coast.
Contract Details and Pricing Structure
Under this sales agreement, Petrobras will receive the LNG shipments using a "Free-On-Board" (FOB) structure. This means that Petrobras will be responsible for arranging maritime transportation after the LNG is loaded, providing the Brazilian company with greater flexibility in choosing shipping routes.

Cheniere has not yet announced the start date for deliveries or the pricing formula for this contract. However, according to Jack Fusco, President and CEO of Cheniere, this agreement will help create additional commercial support and increase cash flow transparency for Cheniere.
Expansion of LNG Production Capacity along the Gulf Coast
Cheniere Energy currently operates one of the largest LNG export platforms in the world. The company manages the Sabine Pass LNG facility in Louisiana and the Corpus Christi facility in Texas, with a combined production capacity of approximately 56 million tons per year. Cheniere is also constructing an additional capacity of about 5 million tons per year.
The agreement with Petrobras was signed following the completion of the third phase of Cheniere's major expansion in Corpus Christi. The company has recently significantly increased its LNG production capacity by commissioning the last liquefaction unit of the third phase.
Cheniere is pursuing further expansion opportunities at its facilities along the Gulf Coast, and this contract with Petrobras represents the company's long-term commitment to developing its activities in this area.
