Hojjatoleslam Nasrollah Pezeshkianfar, Chairman of the Article 90 Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, emphasized in a meeting on Wednesday, September 25, 2026, with economic activists and members of the Parliament's Industries Commission, that in the current energy crisis, nighttime activities of businesses must be limited. Pezeshkianfar pointed to the necessity of prioritizing the distribution of energy resources and said: «We have an energy imbalance problem, and we must prioritize in the way resources are distributed.»
Energy Crisis and Electricity Situation
Pezeshkianfar criticized the Minister of Energy's statements about the lack of problems in electricity supply, referring to the public's distrust of officials' promises. He said: «The Minister of Energy says on state television that we have no electricity problems and that there will be no blackouts next week; it is unclear when next week will come.» He also added: «The current difficult conditions necessitate minimizing electricity consumption by non-essential businesses.»

The Necessity of Energy Consumption Management
The Chairman of the Article 90 Commission referred to the high electricity consumption by businesses and said: «Businesses consume 30,000 megawatts of electricity. Today, in these tough conditions, are businesses more essential than bakeries?» These statements were made to draw attention to the necessity of managing energy consumption and emphasizing the importance of preserving the country's vital resources.
Pezeshkianfar also called for limiting the activities of businesses to specific hours and said: «Why are non-essential businesses open until midnight or 1 AM?» He emphasized that these businesses should cease operations after 9 PM to ensure that the electricity for essential production units is not rationed.
Monitoring Banking Resources and Expenditures
During this meeting, Pezeshkianfar also referred to monitoring the ratio of banking resources to expenditures in Khorasan Razavi Province and said: «It must be clarified how much of the 700 trillion tomans package of support loans for industries affected by the war has been allocated to Khorasan Razavi industries.» He added: «The Industry, Mine and Trade Bank is one of the banks that lacks necessary coordination in this regard.»
Pezeshkianfar also discussed solar energy capacities and said: «The capacity brought into the circuit is important, but it is far from addressing the electricity imbalance» and emphasized the necessity of prioritizing production units.
These statements come at a time when Khorasan Razavi Province, due to its geographical and economic position, requires special attention in managing energy resources and economic development. The Chairman of the Article 90 Commission emphasized the need for transparency in resource allocation and support for production units and called for cooperation from all relevant institutions on this matter.
