The ARC Freedom tanker has been added to the flag fleet of the United States after changing its flag to that of the U.S. This large vessel, built in 2011, serves as a large vehicle and truck carrier, capable of transporting nearly 8,000 vehicle equivalents on 13 vehicle decks.

The vessel features a main deck height of 6.5 meters and a rear door designed for moving cargo weighing up to 320 tons. According to officials, the arrival of the ARC Freedom to the U.S. fleet not only helps strengthen the country's military transportation capacity but also aids in the modernization of the fleet.
The Role and Importance of the Maritime Security Program
The Maritime Security Program (MSP) is a federal program that maintains a fleet of active vessels flagged in the United States to meet military transportation needs during wartime and national crises. This program currently includes 60 operational agreements. The addition of the ARC Freedom to this fleet does not actually mean an increase in new tonnage but helps in the modernization and improvement of fleet quality.
Admiral Steven M. Carmel, the U.S. Maritime Administrator, noted, "Adding the ARC Freedom to the U.S. flag fleet is a significant achievement for America's national security. This vessel allows us to respond quickly to military needs and maintain the country's security."
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the vessel known as ARC Freedom and registered in the United States has been recognized this month and measures approximately 231 meters. After changing its flag, it is considered part of the country's transportation strategy and also helps strengthen commercial logistics networks.
