Almi Marine Management has recently ordered three new Ultra Max tankers with a capacity of 64,000 tons in China. This action is aimed at modernizing the company's fleet, which began last year.

Details of the Tanker Order

This shipment is located at the COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry shipyard in Zhoushan, China, with delivery scheduled for 2030. This new order comes after Almi's return to the shipbuilding market in February, following a four-year absence. At that time, the CEO of the company, Christos Hadjigeorgiou, announced that the company had also registered two other new generation Ultra Max tankers at the Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS) shipyard for delivery in the second quarter of 2029.

Future Plans for Almi's Fleet

With the addition of these three new tankers, Almi's forward-looking plan has expanded to a total of five Ultra Max tankers across two COSCO-related shipyards. The company has close ties with the NACKS and DACKS shipyards in China and Japan and has previously ordered three Ultra Max tankers from the DACKS shipyard for delivery in 2024.

Currently, Almi controls six cargo ships, and the fleet modernization includes the sale of older vessels. Among these ships is the tanker Anasa, built in 2008. For pricing information, media reported in August that the price of a Chinese-built Ultra Max tanker is about $36 million, which means if Almi contracts based on current prices, the total cost for these three ships would reach approximately $108 million. However, the exact price of this order has not yet been announced.
