Union Vega Offshore has signed a contract for the construction of two platform supply vessels (PSV) with a new design by Breeze Ship Design. This contract includes an option for the construction of four additional vessels. The new vessels will be built at Fujian Mawei Shipyard with the next-generation Z 4409 design.

Design Details and Features of the Vessels

These vessels are designed to be 84 meters long and have an area of 900 square meters. One of the notable features of these vessels is the advanced hybrid battery propulsion system, which helps enhance efficiency. Additionally, these vessels are equipped with a moonpool for various operations and have accommodation for up to 44 people. Furthermore, these vessels have been prepared for the installation of a 50-ton crane with active heave compensation (AHC) in the future, which will enhance their flexibility and operational capabilities.

Importance and Implications of the Contract

This contract is considered a significant milestone for both parties, namely Union Vega Offshore and Breeze Ship Design. It reflects market confidence in innovative and forward-looking solutions in the maritime industry that address the evolving needs of the offshore sector. Union Vega Offshore has expressed satisfaction with its collaboration with Fujian Mawei Shipyard, with which it has a successful and long-standing relationship, and aims to deliver a project that can set new standards for the next generation of offshore supply vessels.

This project, due to its focus on performance, efficiency, and adaptability, could help expand the scope of offshore operations and provide services to various sectors of the industry. For instance, these vessels will be suitable not only for traditional platform supply duties but also for light construction activities and geophysical and seismic support operations.
