The Norwegian geophysical services company EMGS (Electromagnetic Geoservices) has received a letter from Mari Energies in Pakistan to conduct controlled electromagnetic research in several offshore exploratory blocks. This initiative aims to enhance project assessments and reduce uncertainties in the exploration process.
Details of the Exploratory Research Project
EMGS, based in Oslo, has announced that this program will include the integration of resistivity information obtained from CSEM with seismic and geological data. The goal of this integration is to improve potential assessments and support decision-making regarding future drilling targets. This research is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2027.

Mari Energies' Strategy for Hydrocarbon Resource Development
Mari Energies intends to use electromagnetic technology to assess, rank, and mitigate the risks of exploratory projects. The company aims to identify and exploit the hydrocarbon potential of Pakistan's offshore areas, which have largely remained unexplored so far.
In May, Pakistan finalized agreements for 23 offshore exploratory blocks covering approximately 54,600 square kilometers in the Indus and Makran basins. These agreements include an initial investment of $82 million.
Mari Energies is recognized as the largest participant in this round of tenders, taking responsibility for 18 blocks and holding non-operational interests in five other blocks.
