Background of the Maydan Mahzam Field
The Maydan Mahzam field is located approximately 100 kilometers northeast of the shores of Qatar, with a water depth of about 40 meters. Discovered in the 1960s, this field began production in 1965. QatarEnergy has initiated a major reconstruction in this field to modernize the old offshore facilities, improve production efficiency, and extend the operational life of the field.
The Vietnamese contractor PTSC M&C provided the first major marine construction package for this project in September and signed a main contract with QatarEnergy on October 22. The responsibilities of this contractor include engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation, and commissioning of eight offshore structures with a total weight of over 100,000 tons.
This project is scheduled to continue from the fourth quarter of 2026 until the end of 2031, with the aim of maintaining production at the Maydan Mahzam field at around 25,000 barrels per day.
