Ahmad Bigdeli, the representative of the people of Khodabandeh in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, referred to the payment of costs for wheat and fuel for farmers in a session on Tuesday, October 6, stating that these costs have been significantly paid. He expressed concern about the alarming living conditions of farmers and called for immediate attention to the problems faced by this segment of society.
The Living Conditions of Farmers
Bigdeli, in a reminder on behalf of farmers, pointed out their inability to pay for wheat and the lack of chemical fertilizers and fuel for them. He continued: "A farmer whose entire life depends on a two to three-month activity and cannot manage his living and economic situation, how can he make the country self-sufficient?" These statements by Bigdeli reflect deep concerns about the future of agriculture in the country.
Response from the Deputy Speaker of Parliament
Ali Nikzad Tamrin, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament and the head of the session, responded to Bigdeli's reminder by announcing that a meeting had been held on this matter and that the money for farmers' wheat has been significantly paid. He also added: "Currently, the issue of farmers regarding the price determination of wheat is under review, and regarding fuel for farmers, 2.7 billion liters of fuel has been allocated to them." Nikzad also mentioned the allocation of an additional 200 million liters of fuel to farmers to get through the agricultural season, which he stated has been pursued in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad.
Legal and Executive Challenges
Bigdeli also emphasized the necessity of adhering to the internal regulations of Parliament, stating that there is a limit to expediency in this regard and that regulations should not be violated. He expressed: "The expediency of Parliament is determined by its internal regulations. If we do not adhere to the regulations, we are bringing Parliament down from its position with our own hands." These statements highlight the need to pay attention to laws and regulations in the process of major decision-making in the country.
