Advantage Tankers continues to expand its programs in the oil industry by signing a new contract for the construction of two Suezmax tankers at Samsung Heavy Industries. This contract, estimated to be worth around $200 million, alongside other orders from the company, demonstrates its commitment to increasing the capacity of its tanker fleet.

Geneva-based Advantage Tankers has recently partnered with Samsung Heavy Industries for two new Suezmax tankers valued at a total of $200 million. Last month, this yard announced a plan to build six new tankers worth a total of 1.65 trillion won (approximately $1.2 billion). With this contract, Advantage's total orders at Samsung will increase to four tankers, which includes two other Suezmax tankers that were previously ordered earlier this year.

Delivery Dates and Technical Specifications
The new Advantage tankers, named Advantage Spirit and Advantage Synergy, each priced at $88.25 million, are scheduled for delivery in the first and second quarters of 2029. These tankers are recognized as dual-fuel ready, a feature that can help reduce operational costs and increase efficiency. Thus, Advantage Tankers is expanding its activities in the tanker sector and increasing its fleet to meet the growing market demands.
Recent Developments in the Tanker Industry
This contract comes as Advantage Tankers has recently placed an order for four MR tankers with a capacity of 50,000 DWT at Guangzhou Shipyard International. The delivery of these tankers is also scheduled throughout 2029. This move reflects Advantage's new focus on various tanker sectors and diversifying its fleet. Currently, the company also has orders for Suezmax tankers at DH Shipbuilding and VLCCs at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co, Hanwha Ocean, and Jiangsu Hantong.
