Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has signed a long-term agreement to supply up to 2 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) with the Thai energy and infrastructure group, Gulf Group, aiming to expand its influence in the Asian energy market. This agreement supports ADNOC's global gas supply strategy and the role of its new commercial platform in this process.

LNG Supply Contract Details

The recently signed sales and purchase agreement (SPA) allows ADNOC to deliver approximately 2 million tons of LNG to Gulf Group over a multi-year period, starting in 2027. Nasser Al-Mahri, acting CEO of ADNOC's Downstream, Marketing, and Trading sector, stated: "This agreement is based on our first LNG supply contract with Gulf Group and reinforces ADNOC's commitment to providing reliable energy for Asian customers."

Widespread Impacts on the Energy Market

This contract is seen as another step in the development of ADNOC's global LNG marketing and trading platform, providing dimensions, flexibility, and various options to meet the growing global energy needs. ADNOC is enhancing its gas supply capabilities, which includes final investment decisions and construction and supply contracts worth $8.2 billion for phases 2 and 3 of the Rich Gas Development (RGD) project.

Gulf Group, as one of ADNOC's key partners, continues its strategy to create a diverse and resilient LNG portfolio. Sarath Ratanawadi, CEO of Gulf Development Public, stated: "This agreement adds credibility to our relationship with ADNOC and enables us to effectively respond to the increasing energy demand and support energy transition in the region."

ADNOC launched its LNG marketing and trading platform in the global market of Abu Dhabi in July 2026, designed to enhance flexibility and transportation options. This platform aims to achieve 47 million tons per year (mtpa) of marketable LNG beyond 2030.
