Masoud Marashdi, the CEO of Ilam Gas Refining Company, stressed the necessity of increasing efficiency in production units. He stated that the use of renewable energy, especially solar power plants, can help reduce domestic gas consumption and, in turn, increase the country's gas production capacity.
Safety Requirements in Major Repairs
Marashdi spoke about safety requirements in major repairs, saying: "We never sacrifice safety for the speed of operations, and the absolute priority is to return employees home safely." He emphasized that all work stages are conducted under strict supervision of HSE guidelines and the refinery's work permit system, and that environmental risks are identified and operational permits are issued before any action is taken.

Safety Management and Continuous Monitoring
The CEO of Ilam Gas Refining Company referred to strict controls in equipment isolation, gas measurement, implementation of lockout/tagout systems, and working at heights safety, adding: "These activities are continuously monitored." He considered the role of the HSE unit in preventing accidents to be important and said: "Daily inspections and briefing sessions help identify and rectify unsafe conditions before they turn into incidents."
Marashdi, referring to the necessity of establishing a balance between gas production and consumption, added: "To reduce pressure on the gas network, special programs must be implemented simultaneously in the areas of production and consumption." He identified changing consumption culture, optimizing resource use, and promoting low-consumption and high-efficiency gas appliances as priorities for consumption management, stating: "In areas where access to alternative fuels is feasible and economically justifiable, these capacities should be utilized."
The CEO of Ilam Gas Refining Company also considered identifying leaks and closely monitoring unmeasured gases in the distribution network as effective measures in optimizing consumption. He emphasized that implementing production increase programs, alongside reducing domestic consumption in production units, is a key strategy for enhancing efficiency. Since these units consume electricity, gas, and steam, replacing energy sources can help reduce domestic gas consumption.
Marashdi regarded the construction of solar power plants instead of generating electricity with gas in turbines as one of the solutions in this area, stating: "Additionally, steam can be supplied using heat recovery equipment from combustion gases (HRSG), reducing dependence on gas-fired boilers." He emphasized that implementing these solutions can reduce domestic gas consumption and free up more of the country's produced gas for supply to the network.
