EnerMech has received the pre-commissioning contract from Subsea 7 for the Ginger gas project off the coast of Trinidad and Tobago. This project includes subsea testing, water filling, leak testing, and support for the commissioning of the subsea production system, which is essential for preparing this system for the commencement of operations.

Contract Details

EnerMech will operate in the installation and commissioning phases of this project with its equipment and personnel based in the Caribbean. The value and duration of this contract have not been officially announced. The Ginger project is a shallow gas development located approximately 80 kilometers off the southeastern coast of Trinidad at water depths of up to 90 meters.

Project History and Outlook

The Ginger gas field was discovered by BP in 2019 and was sanctioned in March 2025. This project is BP's fourth subsea development in Trinidad and Tobago and includes four subsea wells that will be connected to the Mahogany B platform. First gas is expected to be produced in 2027, with Ginger capable of producing an average of approximately 62,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day at peak.

The EnerMech contract falls under a larger contract awarded by BP to the Subsea Integration Alliance, including Subsea7 and SLB OneSubsea, in April 2025. The scope of work for Subsea7 includes the diver-installed connection system, flexible flowline, and related infrastructure. SLB OneSubsea will also provide four vertical subsea trees and the necessary accessories.

The EnerMech contract includes the pre-commissioning work required to transition the subsea infrastructure to the operational phase. This project is considered one of BP's key projects in the region and could have significant impacts on the gas energy market in the Caribbean.
