Managing a daily shortage of 130 million cubic meters of gas during the winter season is under review with the formulation of 19 proposals by Masoud Nasrati, the Deputy Minister of Urban Development and Rural Affairs. As gas consumption in Iran, especially during the cold months, significantly increases, the need for energy consumption management is felt more than ever.

Given the predicted gas shortage, the government and relevant ministries are striving to prevent potential crises by adopting appropriate measures. Nasrati has announced that 19 proposals have been presented to the President and are in the final summarization process.

Home Measures to Reduce Gas Consumption
One of the simple and immediate solutions to reduce gas consumption in the residential sector is to adjust the temperature of indoor spaces and avoid overheating homes. Additionally, managing the use of underutilized spaces and closing doors to rooms that are not in use can help reduce energy waste. Furthermore, using weatherstripping and insulated windows in buildings is another effective solution to prevent heat loss.
Alongside these measures, the proper functioning of heating appliances such as heaters and boilers also plays a significant role in gas consumption levels. Regular servicing of these devices and their proper adjustment can improve the performance of the heating system. Moreover, in buildings with central heating systems, adjusting the burner and control equipment according to the building's needs is of special importance.
Additionally, reducing hot water consumption can also help decrease gas consumption. Repairing hot water taps and preventing them from being left open unnecessarily, along with insulating hot water pipes, are among the measures that can effectively reduce heat loss.

Energy consumption management is not limited to the residential sector and requires cooperation and interaction from all segments of society. Modifying consumption behavior in office buildings, schools, and public centers can also help alleviate consumption pressure. In fact, to manage the shortage of 130 million cubic meters of gas, adopting comprehensive policies and optimizing equipment across all sectors is essential.
