Iran's economy is facing two alarming main indicators in the first half of 1405: 90% inflation and -10% growth. This situation indicates serious challenges in various economic sectors of the country.
Analysis of Inflation Trends and Contributing Factors
According to reports, point-to-point inflation reached 89.8% at the end of Shahrivar, and annual inflation reached 73.6%. This significant increase is attributed to the upward trend that began in Azar 1404 with the imposition of currency shocks. The decline in oil exports, a drop in foreign trade, and the destruction of infrastructure have also impacted economic growth under the current conditions.

Economic analysts believe that the increase in currency rates and pressures from sanctions could lead to a continued upward trend in inflation. In this context, the removal of the preferential exchange rate of 28,500 tomans in Azar last year caused the monthly inflation rate to rise to 4.2% and higher in Dey and Bahman.
Negative Growth and Economic Challenges
The economic growth for the first quarter of 1405 has been reported at -10.1%, which is an unprecedented figure in recent years. According to statistics, the growth in oil and gas extraction was -26%, which will lead to a reduction in the government's foreign currency resources. Additionally, non-oil growth has also been reported at -4.6%.
This situation reflects the negative impacts of sanctions and war on economic sectors. Particularly, the negative growth in the oil and gas sectors, as well as infrastructure, directly affects the currency rate and budget deficit. In this context, gross fixed capital formation has also faced an 8.4% decline.
These challenges not only affect the country's economic future but can also seriously impact people's lives. In a situation where foreign trade is severely negative, there is a pressing need for immediate and effective solutions.
