Union Maritime has ordered two new tankers with a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of 24,200 tons from Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company (DSOC) in China as part of its fleet expansion. With this order, the number of ships under construction at this yard has increased to six.
Details of the New Order
The company, led by Laurent Cadji, has identified the new ships by hull numbers PC24K-5 and PC24K-6, both of which will be delivered in 2028. The contract value for these two new tankers has not been disclosed.
Union Maritime's Fleet Development
This new order is based on a contract for four ships that was signed with this yard in January 2025. The previous ships, estimated to cost around 30 million dollars each, have a total cost of about 120 million dollars. The company's current plan includes three of these four ships for 2026 and one ship for 2027.
Union Maritime's website currently lists 81 new tankers, an increase from the 79 registered in September. This expansion includes two Newcastlemax bulk carriers in Wuhan, China, two MR tankers in Jinjiang Nanyang, one LR2 tanker at the Guangzhou shipyard, two chemical tankers in Japan, and two small-sized bulk carriers in Imakari. The company has also placed orders for large gas carriers in China and South Korea.
