TMC Compressors has been selected to supply the compressed air system for floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessels. This vessel, known as Maromba, is currently undergoing upgrades in China and will be transferred to the Maromba field located in the Campos Basin in Brazil upon completion.

The FPSO Maromba, previously known as FPSO Polvo, is currently undergoing upgrades at the COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry yard in Dalian, China. Supply of Equipment and New Capabilities
TMC Compressors is committed to supplying a high-capacity compressed air system for this FPSO. This system includes service air compressors and controls, air dryers, filters, and a control system. The value of the equipment supply contract has not yet been disclosed. According to TMC, this compressor is designed so that onboard crew can maintain it without the need for external service technicians.
TMC's Sales and Business Development Manager, Hans-Peter Tanum, stated that the company had also supplied marine air compressors for FPSO Polvo 20 years ago, and the return of this project to them reflects trust in their capabilities. Tanum noted that FPSO Maromba requires modern technologies and high energy efficiency.
The FPSO Maromba was initially built as a commercial tanker and was converted to an FPSO for the Polvo field in 2007. The final investment decision for the development of the Maromba field was made in May 2025, aiming to achieve 500 million barrels of oil.
The first oil production from this Brazilian project is scheduled for the end of 2027, and BW Energy expects production to reach 60,000 barrels per day.
