The Strait of Hormuz, as a key passage for global oil and gas exports, is currently affected by political tensions. The closure of this strait has significantly impacted the oil exports of Gulf Coast countries, especially Qatar. In this context, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, has pointed to the negative consequences of this situation and stated that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has caused significant disruptions in the exports of this country.
Effects of the Closure of the Strait of Hormuz
The Emir of Qatar emphasized the importance of the Strait of Hormuz in global energy equations, stating that the closure of this strait has led to damages inflicted on Ras Laffan (a major liquefied natural gas export center) and that Qatar's policies prior to the current crisis have allowed the country to manage the consequences of the crisis. However, he stressed that Qatar will not emerge from this crisis unless it becomes more compatible with global developments.
