The tanker Neoliner Origin, an innovative cargo ship equipped with wind power, docked for the first time at the port of Zeebrugge, Belgium on September 21, 2026. This event is part of NEOLINE's regular transatlantic services, creating a new connection between Zeebrugge and destinations such as Montoir-de-Bretagne, Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, Baltimore, and Halifax.

Expansion of NEOLINE services to the European market

The port of Zeebrugge, which is part of the Antwerp-Bruges port, is recognized as a major hub for Roll-on/Roll-off cargo, vehicles, and oversized cargo. The addition of this port to the NEOLINE service network responds to the requests of customers and business partners seeking direct access to the company's services from the logistical heart of Europe, with strong connections to Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and northern France.

Reducing carbon impacts in transportation

The new NEOLINE service, developed with the support of CMA CGM, offers European carriers a wind-powered transportation solution that helps reduce the carbon impacts of their supply chains. The Neoliner Origin, measuring 136 meters in length, is designed to use wind as its primary propulsion source, reducing fuel consumption by over 80% compared to traditional ships.

This ship carries 3000 square meters of sail with two foldable SolidSail masts, allowing it to access most ports. This new service is expected to last five weeks in the summer and six weeks in the winter, including about ten rotations per year. This expansion only slightly increases the rotation time by a few days while adhering to existing transportation commitments to customers from Montoir-de-Bretagne.
