Route and Collaborations
After loading, the tanker Fan Zhou 8 set sail towards the Red Sea, although its final destination has not been disclosed. This journey has been organized in collaboration with the container trader Lotus Containers for transporting unusual cargoes, including 53-foot containers produced in China for the North American market. Carrier53' Shipping, responsible for chartering this ship, is known for its expertise in transporting unconventional cargoes.
In a recent weekly report, Alphaliner mentioned another ship that has recently made headlines. The Tiger Maanshan from Sea Legend, with a capacity of 1,480 TEU, has recently arrived at the ports of Felixstowe and Rotterdam after passing through the Northern Sea route from China. Unlike the Fan Zhou 8, this ship is specifically designed for transporting LNG containers.
The largest loadings of this kind are particularly challenging under conditions of capacity shortages for conventional liner operators, and it seems that the Fan Zhou 8 has been designed and deployed to meet the specific needs of the market.
