The government has outlined plans to increase gas production capacity with the aim of managing energy imbalance and meeting the essential needs of industries and agriculture. In this regard, Aref, the First Vice President, announced that 250 million cubic meters of gas have been taken off the network, and efforts are being made to return 100 million cubic meters of this capacity to the network before the onset of cold weather.

Gas consumption management in various sectors

In a meeting dedicated to reviewing gas consumption management scenarios, the share of gas consumption in residential, commercial, public, industrial, agricultural, transportation, and power generation sectors for the four cold months of the year was determined. Aref considered the provision of energy needed for industry and agriculture as a government prerequisite and emphasized that if necessary, consumption restrictions should be managed in a way that production is not harmed. This comes while last winter, the failure to implement government directives led to problems for industries.

Challenges of steel industries and the need for support

Last year, despite the government's emphasis on not cutting gas to export industries, steel units faced many challenges. This year, these units need more support due to attacks and damages from the 40-day war and a reduction of 10 million tons in production. In this context, continuous production in the second half of the year is essential to compensate for losses, which is also dependent on gas supply.

One of the key solutions for optimizing consumption is optimizing consumption in the residential sector, which can help sustain the country's industry. The shutdown of an industry and the unemployment of workers have social repercussions, and on the other hand, increasing industrial production such as steel can lead to an increase in the country's non-oil exports. In the current situation, this issue is extremely important.
