The "Gas Operator Plan" is designed as a new collaborative model aimed at optimizing energy consumption in Iran and addressing the imbalance in the country's gas network. Natural gas, as the primary source of energy supply, puts significant pressure on the gas transmission network during the cold seasons, and this plan seeks to reduce consumption and increase efficiency in this sector.
The Necessity of Optimizing Energy Consumption
Iran, with an energy consumption intensity several times higher than global standards, faces serious challenges regarding resource wastage. This situation highlights the necessity for adopting innovative and operational approaches to energy management. The Gas Operator Plan, created in collaboration with specialized energy service companies (ESCOs), aims to provide effective solutions for optimizing natural gas consumption in the country.

The Key Role of Operator Companies
Energy operator companies, as specialized contractors, are responsible for implementing projects and monitoring energy consumption. Saeed Tavakoli, Deputy Minister of Oil and CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company, has pointed to the role of these companies in energy auditing, installing smart control systems, and improving efficiency in industries and buildings. These companies ensure that consumption reduction is achieved sustainably and measurably through continuous monitoring.
To date, 85 companies have successfully received temporary accreditation for gas operation activities, and 88 contracts have been signed with operator companies in 29 provinces of the country. These figures indicate mutual trust between the government and the private sector, as well as interest in developing optimization plans.
Expected Achievements
With the full implementation of this plan, it is anticipated that approximately 980 million cubic meters of natural gas will be saved by the end of this year. This level of savings will not only contribute to the sustainability of the country's gas network but will also prevent economic damages and free up financial resources for infrastructure development.
In the current situation, where the energy crisis has become one of the main challenges, Tavakoli has emphasized the necessity for synergy among all sectors of the gas industry and stated that "the war is a war of energy." He stresses the need for cooperation and solidarity to overcome challenges and maintain network sustainability.
