The Commander of the Border Guard of Khorasan Razavi, referring to sustainable security at the country's borders, emphasized the importance of the silent struggles of border guards. General Majid Shoja in a heartfelt interview discussed the necessity of acknowledging the services of border guards along the 8,755 kilometers of shared borders with 15 neighboring countries.

Services of Border Guards and Border Challenges

General Shoja stated that people are often unaware of the activities of border guards, highlighting the impact of these services in preventing the entry of drugs and security threats. He referenced the words of the martyr leader of the revolution, who regarded the border as the honor of the country and emphasized the importance of paying attention to it. General Shoja continued, saying: "The border is the first layer of defense for the country and serves as the wall and fence of a house. If a house has no wall, the safety of its inhabitants is at risk."

Increase in Illegal Entry and Border Guard Measures

The Commander of the Border Guard of Khorasan Razavi pointed to border challenges with Afghanistan and said: "Our biggest challenge is illegal crossings from Afghanistan. Since the beginning of this year, about 150,000 illegal immigrants have been arrested." He attributed the increase in illegal entry to a combination of economic, social, and cultural reasons, adding: "The stability and relative prosperity in our country have created a kind of attraction for these individuals." General Shoja emphasized that the border guard will firmly address illegal entries while also ensuring that legal entry routes are clear.

He also stressed the necessity of maintaining and stabilizing the population of border residents as the true border guards, stating: "If the living conditions and infrastructure in the border strip are managed in a way that retains the border residents, the task of protecting the border will be easier." General Shoja mentioned the existence of five active official border crossings in Khorasan Razavi, stating that these passages play a strategic role in the national economy and should be given attention.
