Sundagas Banda Unipressu, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the UK-based Sundae Energy, has improved the outlook for the Chuditch gas project in Timor-Leste by receiving a 12-month extension. This extension was granted following a warning about the end of cooperation due to missed deadlines earlier this year, and now hopes for drilling the Chuditch appraisal well have been revived.
Key Role in Negotiations
Dr. Andy Butler, CEO of Sundae Energy, stated: "I am pleased that this extension has been granted to the exploration license, and I thank ANP for their continued support of our efforts to advance the Chuditch project. I also appreciate the Timor Gap team for their positive spirit in negotiations. This extension is an important milestone that brings us closer to drilling Chuditch-2."

Project-Related Developments
Meanwhile, Finder Energy announced on October 15, 2026, that it has signed a contract to supply a drilling rig for the Kode Tasi and Jehl (KTJ) development in Timor-Leste. This rig has additional options for drilling, allowing other operators to participate in the project. The company is continuing negotiations with Finder under an agreement announced in April 2026 for collaboration between the KTJ and Chuditch-2 drilling campaigns.
The extension in Timor-Leste follows Sundae Energy's advancements in New Zealand, where the company obtained exclusive rights to advance a petrochemical exploration license in the old gas-concentrate field in the Tarana Ki offshore basin. This information indicates that Sundae Energy is expanding its capabilities in various regions, and these projects could contribute to diversifying energy resources and meeting market needs.
