Details of the Investment and Project Structure
This investment is a significant financial milestone for the Alaska LNG project and provides the necessary foundation to advance the project towards a final investment decision and construction. Glenfarne will work with the governments of the United States and South Korea to finalize the investment structure and complete the remaining steps to achieve FID.
This financial achievement is based on 18 months of the company's efforts to advance the project since becoming the main developer in March 2025. During this time, the company has secured agreements for LNG sales, gas supply from northern Alaska, domestic gas supply in Alaska, workforce, engineering, pipeline construction, equipment, and strategic investments.
Commercial agreements now represent 13 million tons per year (mtpa) of the 16 million tons per year targeted by Glenfarne, which is necessary to support the final investment decision. The Alaska LNG project includes an 807-mile pipeline with a diameter of 42 inches that transports natural gas from northern Alaska to domestic needs, as well as a gas processing plant in northern Alaska and an LNG terminal with a capacity of 20 mtpa in Nikiski, Alaska.
Adam Prestidge, President of Glenfarne Alaska LNG, emphasized the importance of this investment for the people of Alaska, stating, "This is about employing the workforce and starting construction. Glenfarne has built the commercial, engineering, workforce, and construction foundations for this project over the past 18 months."
