Tanker Specifications
According to available information, this vessel appears to be the Babitonga tanker, built in 2019 by Tsuneishi. This ship flies the Panama flag and has a precise deadweight capacity of 81,770 tons. The registered fleet of MTO Maritime includes Babitonga as one of its five vessels.
The purchase of this tanker follows several other actions by Sincere Navigation this year. The company is reducing the size of its older fleet, including the capesize vessel Chin Shan, which was built in 2004. Additionally, in June, the company sold the VLCC Maxim, built in 2011, to Sinokor in South Korea and had previously sold its sister ship, Kondor, for $78 million.
Background and Outlook
Sincere Navigation Company was established in 1968 and operates in the fields of dry cargo and crude oil transportation. The company's fleet includes Suezmax tankers, capesize vessels, very large iron ore carriers, and VLCC tankers. Given recent developments, the company is looking to enhance its capabilities in global markets and improve the financial and operational status of its fleet.
The acquisition of this new tanker could help Sincere Navigation strengthen its position in the face of existing challenges in the maritime and oil transportation industries and respond more effectively to market needs.
