Siemens Gamesa, a Spanish wind turbine manufacturer, has long-term chartered the marine operations service vessel Purus Horizon for the maintenance of wind turbines in the North Sea. This vessel will soon begin its operations and represents another step in the development of renewable energy infrastructure in the region.
Contract Details and Start Date
Purus, the owner of the vessel, has not disclosed specific details about the duration or value of the contract. However, it has announced that the Purus Horizon will commence operations in early 2027. This agreement marks the second long-term mission for the vessel.
Vessel History and Previous Missions
The Purus Horizon, previously known as Edda Passat, is a first-generation service operation vessel (SOV) designed to support offshore wind energy projects. This vessel began a five-year mission at the Race Bank wind farm owned by Ørsted off the coast of Britain in 2018. Purus acquired the vessel in 2024 and renamed it.
Additionally, Purus also secured another contract this year for the construction service operation vessel (CSOV) Purus Power at the OranjeWind wind farm in the Netherlands. These contracts signify the ongoing growth and development of Purus in providing marine services for the wind energy industry.
