Damen Shipyards Group delivered a Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) 600 to 4Clans Nig Ltd on September 23, 2026. This machine is designed for use in the Niger City project in Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria. This marine receiver is part of the advanced CSD Damen series, combining proven dredging performance with design improvements to enhance efficiency, transport, and ease of operation.

Capabilities of Cutter Suction Dredger 600

The high-performance marine receiver, named Lady Caroline, will support large-scale land reclamation operations that are part of the coastal development of Niger City alongside the Niger River. With a power of 250 kilowatts, robust design, and fuel efficiency, the CSD600 is well-suited for the challenging conditions of this project. To optimize performance in shallow water dredging, it has been customized with a blade piece added to the suction ladder and also features an adapter for connection to the discharge pipe.

Implications of Delivery for Infrastructure Development

The delivery of the CSD600 significantly enhances the dredging capabilities of 4Clans Nig Ltd and demonstrates Damen's commitment to providing reliable and efficient dredging solutions for large-scale infrastructure projects and land development globally. Theodore Omalu, CEO of 4Clans Nig Ltd, stated: "The arrival of Damen CSD600 marks a significant milestone for the Niger City project. This investment reinforces our commitment to delivering a world-class coastal development that will create sustainable economic opportunities for Delta State and Nigeria."

This marine receiver was assembled at the manufacturer's workshop in the Netherlands and transported to Nigeria with a combination of free pontoons and containerized components. After delivery, the vessel was reassembled on-site and commissioned with the support of Damen field service engineers. During this period, the operational crew also received the necessary training and familiarization for a smooth start.

The latest delivery of this machine once again demonstrates Damen's ability to provide proven dredging solutions that combine high productivity, operational efficiency, and long-term reliability for customers worldwide.
