Shahla Amouri, at the specialized seminar "Export Path to the Iraqi Market" held on the sidelines of the Shahr-e Aftab exhibition, emphasized the importance of the Port of Faw as an economic opportunity for developing relations between Iran and Iraq. She stated that this port should be regarded as a commercial capacity to help expand economic cooperation between the two countries.

Changes in the Iraqi Market and the Need for New Strategies

Amouri pointed out the economic and commercial developments in Iraq, stating that the market in this country has undergone significant changes in recent years, and Iranian exporters must move towards a precise understanding of the target market and improve product quality. She also referred to strengthening domestic production in Iraq and mentioned that this could impact the export of Iranian goods.

The Necessity of Considering the Tastes of Iraqi Customers

The head of the Ahvaz Chamber of Commerce, while examining the competition among various countries for presence in the Iraqi market, emphasized the need to understand the consumption culture and tastes of Iraqi customers. She noted that offering goods that do not align with the purchasing power and preferences of customers could reduce the competitiveness of Iranian products. Amouri also pointed out the challenges of exporting agricultural products from Khuzestan to Iraq, adding that the simultaneous harvest of products in Khuzestan and southern Iraq could create limitations for the entry of similar Iranian products into the market.

She emphasized the importance of maintaining quality and building trust in business relations, referencing the experience of one of the members of the Ahvaz Chamber of Commerce who lost the trust of the Iraqi side due to the supply of low-quality goods. She stated that sustainable exports cannot be achieved merely through selling goods, and maintaining quality standards and gaining customer trust are key factors for longevity in target markets.

Opportunities Arising from the Development of the Port of Faw

Amouri described the construction of the large Port of Faw in Iraq as an important opportunity for the development of economic relations between Iran and Iraq. She emphasized the need for systematic planning to utilize the capacities of this port in the field of exports and regional exchanges. She also referred to the incentives announced for industrial investment in Iraq and stressed the necessity of thoroughly examining the available opportunities.
