Asghar Jahangir, the head of the country's Inspection Organization, emphasized the need to reconsider free energy consumption in cultural centers during a meeting to review water and gas imbalance in Mashhad. He stated that this issue has led to unregulated consumption and undermines the savings model.
Cultural Promotion and Pattern Reform
Jahangir said at the meeting: "Cultural promotion of water, electricity, and gas consumption is essential to reduce energy imbalance, and reforming patterns and methods is one of the ways to achieve this goal." He also emphasized the design of methods for using wastewater to optimize operations and referred to successful examples from other countries that view wastewater as crude oil.

The Need for Infrastructure Redesign
He pointed out the savings made by the people of Mashhad and Khorasan province, saying: "Savings by consumers alone cannot lead us to the final result; rather, reforming the situation in other areas is also essential." Jahangir also stressed the need for increased supervision over water leaks due to pipe deterioration and the use of treated wastewater instead of drinking water in agriculture.
The head of the country's Inspection Organization referred to the necessity of redesigning gas and water infrastructures and said: "We must not allow facilities to face deterioration, as this issue can lead to not only energy waste but also security problems." He also emphasized the need for special funding for Khorasan Razavi province due to the annual influx of tens of millions of pilgrims to Mashhad.
Jahangir further addressed the issue of unauthorized energy use and illegal wells, stating: "Existing laws are somewhat deterrent but need to be updated for penalties to be effective." He also stressed the importance of land use planning in future projects and the need for careful supervision of projects to prevent waste of funds.
According to him, the Inspection Organization will carry out the necessary supervision in this area and will utilize existing capacities to expedite the operation of water, electricity, and gas projects in Mashhad.
