Scorpio Tankers, led by Emmanuel Laourou, has launched a program to increase the number of tankers under its direct control with the aim of renewing its fleet. The company has invested $415.6 million to purchase four new tankers while simultaneously retiring older tankers from its fleet.

Sales Activities and Future Plans
The company has also acquired two additional LR2 (Long Range 2) tankers from Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry at a price of $72.8 million each, with delivery scheduled for October and November 2029. These purchases are part of Scorpio's fleet development plan, which includes 17 new tankers; these will consist of five MR, eight LR2, and four VLCCs to be delivered by 2030.
In addition to new purchases, Scorpio Tankers has also sold three older tankers. The MR tanker STI Dama, built in 2014, is being sold for $37.5 million. Additionally, the LR2 tankers STI Elysees and STI Veneto will be sold for $70 million and $73 million, respectively. These transactions are expected to be completed before the end of the current year.
Last year, Scorpio Tankers actively worked on renewing its fleet and signed a contract in May to sell four LR2 tankers for $285.8 million. This plan also includes a package sale of six vessels worth $300 million that was introduced in April. Currently, the company's existing fleet consists of 74 product tankers, including 25 LR2, 35 MR, and 14 Handymax, with an average age of 10.2 years.
