Ocean Network Express (ONE) has decided to relocate its regional headquarters in Asia from Hong Kong to Singapore. This structural change, effective from April 1, 2027, will combine the East Asia headquarters in Hong Kong with the South Asia headquarters in Singapore. This new regional unit will oversee 15 markets, with Louis Tang appointed as the regional president.
Changes in Regional Structure
This change also redefines ONE's responsibilities in Africa. Operations in East, West, and South Africa will fall under the company's Dubai headquarters, while London will continue to oversee Europe, the Mediterranean, and North Africa. This revision of the regional structure will bring reforms to a system that has been in place since ONE's establishment in 2017.
History of ONE and Reasons for Changes
In 2017, three Japanese companies NYK, MOL, and K Line combined their container operations, with Singapore chosen as the global headquarters. At that time, regional offices were established in Hong Kong, London, Richmond, and São Paulo. These changes come just three months after Till Ole Barrelet took over as the new CEO of ONE, succeeding Jeremy Nixon. ONE currently operates over 280 vessels with a capacity of more than 2.2 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units).
