The OMS Group has recently established a new Remote Operations Center (ROC) in Singapore dedicated to remote monitoring of Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs). This center is specifically designed for real-time monitoring and validation of survey data and coordination of multiple vehicle operations across various geographic projects.

Expertise and Coordination in an Operational Environment

The ROC, operated by the OMS Group's Geometra marine survey business unit, brings together USV pilot teams, survey specialists, and project teams in a unified operational environment. Maxim Owen, the Director of Integration and Marine Survey Operations, emphasized that this center is designed as an evolution of our survey division, not as a separate technology. He stated, "By bringing together vessel operations, survey expertise, and data in one environment, our teams can maintain operational oversight, validate survey data in real-time, and effectively coordinate missions."

Development with International Standards in Mind

According to the OMS Group report, this center has been developed with evolving international frameworks that include autonomous and remotely controlled vessels, successfully passing inspections in accordance with the proposed M272 procedures of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) for inspecting USV remote operations centers.

Roni Lim, CEO of the OMS Group, stated that "unmanned surveys are not a conceptual project for OMS. We have invested in vessels, technology, and the people needed to build the capabilities required for deployment and scalability. The opening of the ROC in Singapore brings these elements together and enhances our ability to deliver safer, more efficient, and more predictable survey operations while maintaining the quality of data expected from critical infrastructure projects."
