The National Iranian Gas Company stated in its recent report that there is no plan for a nationwide gas outage for residential customers in the country on Sunday, October 12, 2026. Currently, most announcements regarding gas outages are limited to specific areas due to repair and development operations on the network.

Status of Local and Regional Outages

Recent announcements from provincial gas companies clearly indicate that planned outages are generally limited to specific neighborhoods and streets and are not issued as a single plan for all cities. For example, the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Gas Company announced a temporary gas outage in parts of Dehdasht on Saturday, October 11, due to network repairs. This area includes Imam Khomeini Street, Mofatteh North, 17 Shahrivar, Kargar, Modarres, and the alley of the Seminary.

This indicates that urban gas outages in October may continue at the regional level, and the absence of a nationwide plan does not mean that all technical and construction outages in cities are ruled out.

Reduction in Supply Capacity and Gas Supply Status

The National Iranian Gas Company has reported that the volume of gas delivered to the network in the first six months of 2026 has decreased by about 14 percent compared to the same period last year. Nevertheless, the share of gas in supplying fuel to power plants has been maintained at nearly the same level as last year, with 85 percent of the fuel basket needs of power plants met by gas in the first half of this year.

At the same time, the CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company announced an increase of one billion cubic meters in gas delivery to industries in the first half of the year. The steel and petrochemical industries did not face significant restrictions in receiving gas during this period, and the network's focus has been on ensuring fuel supply for production and power generation sectors.

Saeed Tavakoli, CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company, emphasized in his performance report that despite the reduction in the volume of gas delivered to the network, gas supply to power plants has been maintained at a level close to last year. This indicates prioritization of consumption under supply constraints.

Recently, the spokesperson for the Energy Commission of the Parliament also announced that due to the increase in imbalance, restrictions on gas and electricity for industries may continue until the end of the year. This statement pertains to the industrial sector and should not be equated with the announcement of residential gas outages in cities.

Currently, residents of each city should refer to the announcements from their provincial or regional gas company, as a technical operation may only affect part of a city while the network in other areas continues to operate without changes.
