Karpowership, a provider of floating energy solutions in Turkey, has completed its program to convert liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers into floating storage and regasification units (FSRU) with the completion of the last tanker, LNGT Türkiye. This program was carried out at the Seatrium shipyard located in Singapore, where the naming and launching ceremony of the new vessel took place.
Details of the Tanker Conversion Program
The program to convert LNG tankers to FSRU, which began in 2018, includes seven tankers: LNGT Africa, LNGT Asia, LNGT Europe, LNGT Antarctica, LNGT Americas, LNGT Oceania, and LNGT Türkiye. These tankers will operate as part of Karpowership's LNG-to-power value chain and will help enhance energy security and access to the electricity grid across four continents.
