J.D. Vance, an American senator, in remarks about the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's threats to ships, warned of the consequences of Iran potentially controlling this waterway. He stated, "We have never faced a situation where the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism attempts to completely block global energy supply."
Consequences of Controlling the Strait of Hormuz
Vance noted that if Iran gains control over shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, it would mean higher gas prices for American consumers. He added, "If we simply leave the region and allow the Iranians to take control of shipping from the Strait of Hormuz, it means you will have to pay much more for gas." These remarks come as shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz was normal before the start of U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28, with about 20 percent of the world's oil being transported through this waterway.

Current Oil Export Situation
The current situation of oil exports from the Middle East continues due to U.S. military efforts to facilitate the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. In response to the question of how long it will take for prices to decrease, Vance said, "When this conflict ends, we will see a decrease in gas prices." However, he pointed to the challenges the U.S. faces in the war with Iran and stated, "We have achieved a decisive victory, but the enemy also plays a role in determining the outcome."
Political Consequences of the War with Iran
The war with Iran and rising fuel costs have become one of the determining factors in the U.S. midterm congressional elections. As these elections approach, various discussions and opinions about the Trump administration's policies towards Iran are emerging. Abdul Al-Sayed, a Democratic candidate, has repeatedly criticized Trump's policies and called the war with Iran a "foolish idea." He referenced the 40-year efforts of the Israeli Prime Minister to draw the U.S. into war in his criticism of Trump.
In conclusion, Vance responded to Al-Sayed's criticisms by saying, "I see Al-Sayed talking about the war with Iran and criticizing Mr. Trump's decisions. But fundamentally, we are exactly where we are, and I want to know what Abdul Al-Sayed's solution is for our current problems. It's easy to just criticize someone's statements from a few months ago."
