Challenges of Energy Consumption
The head of the Energy Optimization and Strategic Management Organization also pointed to the challenges of energy consumption in the country. He said: "Despite our production achievements, we have not been able to perform well in energy consumption." Saghab Isfahani referred to the energy intensity index as one of the criteria for evaluating energy consumption, adding that this index was announced as the country's general energy policy in 1999, but currently, Iran ranks first in the world in terms of absolute amount and growth trend of this index.
He continued: "This situation indicates that energy consumption in the country is not being carried out effectively and requires fundamental review and reforms. In fact, despite efforts in production, we must pay special attention to the issue of consumption as well."
In conclusion, Saghab Isfahani stated that the government is seeking to create the necessary infrastructure for optimizing energy consumption, noting that this requires solidarity and cooperation from all sectors of the country. He acknowledged that without attention to optimal consumption, achieving long-term goals in the energy sector will not be possible.
