The price of feed gas for petrochemicals reached 29,749 Tomans per cubic meter in August 2026. This rate was determined based on a notification issued on September 22, 2026, and indicates a significant increase in costs for petrochemical companies.
Details of Gas Price Changes
According to the new notification, the price of fuel gas was set at 17,849 Tomans in September, which will impose more financial pressure on petrochemical companies. The price of feed for petrochemicals at the beginning of 2026 was 17,956 Tomans per cubic meter, and this rate gradually increased in the following months. For example, in Farvardin and Ordibehesht, the feed price was 17,956 Tomans, in Khordad it rose to 20,127 Tomans, and in Tir it reached 26,570 Tomans.

The increase in fuel gas costs is also significant. The price of this type of gas rose from 10,773.5 Tomans in Farvardin to 17,849.3 Tomans in August and September. Thus, the cost of each cubic meter of fuel gas has increased by about 65.7% from the beginning of the year to September.
Economic Consequences
These changes in gas prices will have direct and indirect financial impacts on the financial statements of petrochemical companies. For instance, the increase in feed prices from Farvardin to August is about 11,793 Tomans per cubic meter, which could lead to a cost difference of about 11 billion and 793 million Tomans for a complex that consumes one million cubic meters of feed gas.
In the fuel sector, the price difference from the beginning of the year to September reaches 7 billion and 76 million Tomans. Therefore, companies must calculate and reflect these differences in their financial statements. This issue is particularly important for companies such as Shiraz Petrochemical, Zagros Petrochemical, Fanavaran Petrochemical, Khorasan Petrochemical, and Kermanshah Petrochemical.
If the final rate is lower than the previous amount, companies must adjust the recorded cost or debt. Overall, these changes could affect the operating profit margins of companies and lead to an increase in the cost of production.
