Hornbeck Offshore Services, which merged with Helix Energy Solutions two months ago, announced today, November 2, the signing of several agreements with Shell Offshore to provide deepwater marine services in the Gulf of America.

Hornbeck plans to deploy an advanced technology well intervention vessel with an Intervention Riser System (IRS) as well as remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). Additionally, a high-specification multipurpose support vessel (MPSV) along with ROVs and marine supply vessels compliant with Jones Act regulations will be utilized to support the two aforementioned vessels.
The well intervention vessel and support vessel have a five-year contract, with operations set to begin in 2027.
Todd M. Hornbeck, President and CEO of Hornbeck, stated, "We are very pleased to expand our long-term relationship with Shell. We look forward to providing integrated services through a unique combination of high-spec assets in the deepwater Gulf of America. This reflects the breadth and depth of what the complementary combination of Hornbeck Offshore and Helix Energy Solutions can now offer to the market."
It is noteworthy that Texas-based offshore energy service provider Helix Energy Solutions and Hornbeck Offshore Services, a marine transportation service provider in Louisiana, merged in September to form a company they describe as a leading integrated marine services company.
Hornbeck shareholders hold about 55% and Helix shareholders hold about 45% of the combined company, which operates under the name Hornbeck Offshore Services, Inc. The company is based in Houston, Texas, and Covington, Louisiana.
About two weeks later, Hornbeck announced the receipt of a multi-year contract for decommissioning facilities with a "major operator" set to begin next year in the North Sea.
