Hamidreza Shahroki, advisor to the governor of Sistan and Baluchestan on border market affairs, announced that live animal imports to the province reached 29,000 heads in the first 6 months of this year. This figure, compared to the same period last year when it was about 12,000 heads, indicates a 120% increase.
Increase in Exports and Border Transactions
Shahroki further pointed to the increase in exports from the province's borders, stating that despite infrastructure challenges, the export of goods from the province's borders has grown by about 45%. He added: With increased work shifts and coordination between the separated region and terminals, we have been able to overcome existing problems.

The governor's advisor also referred to the capacity of the Pakistan border to supply essential goods, stating: Activating this capacity has helped meet the needs of the province and other central provinces of the country for items such as rice, wheat, and oil.
Security and Infrastructure Challenges at the Borders
Shahroki also mentioned recent security developments in Pakistan, emphasizing that these developments have negatively impacted the activities of some borders, especially the routes and border areas of Taftan, Kouhak, and Pishin. Currently, there are issues in these border routes that affect the volume of transactions.
He also pointed to the high capacity of the Rimdan border for gas exports, stating that about 2,500 gas tankers are registered in the system, but the existing infrastructure at this terminal does not meet the volume of demand. Shahroki emphasized that the facilities and infrastructure on the Pakistani side must also be aligned with the capacity created in Iran.
Shahroki, referring to the $10 billion trade goal between Iran and Pakistan, said: Although we are still far from this goal, activating the capacity of border markets and terminals can help increase the province's share in trade with Pakistan.
He also reported a significant increase in revenues from economic interactions at the markets, stating: The deposits to the government's public treasury from this source were about 28 billion tomans in the first half of last year, which has reached about 110 billion tomans in the first half of this year.
Considering the deterioration of the infrastructure of border markets, Shahroki announced that this year about 150 billion tomans has been allocated for the reconstruction and renovation of these infrastructures to enhance the capacity of the terminals in line with the growing trend of economic transactions.
