Tahmasb Najafi, Deputy Coordinator of Urban Affairs of Kermanshah, in a meeting with the province's public relations managers, referred to the forecast of early cold and the possibility of temperatures dropping below zero in various regions of the country, mentioning the energy imbalance and the challenges ahead this winter. He emphasized that managing gas consumption requires serious cooperation from the public and executive agencies.
Challenges of Gas Supply in the Cold Season
Najafi added in this meeting that if restrictions are imposed on gas supply, these restrictions will initially include government offices, garden houses, villas, and high-consumption subscribers to minimize damage to the residential sector. Expressing concern over the forecasts made, he noted that 11 provinces in the country are facing gas imbalances, which could lead to serious problems in energy supply.

Supervisory Actions and Consumption Goals
The Deputy Governor of Kermanshah referred to the supervisory actions in this regard and said that since the beginning of this year, 2,410 cases of illegal gas connections and consumption have been identified and collected in the province, with an estimated consumption of these cases being 892,500 cubic meters. He emphasized the province's goal of reducing gas consumption by 15 percent, adding that real-time temperature monitoring in government offices, optimizing and smartening the boiler rooms of executive agencies, and reducing gas waste are among the actions that were implemented last year and will continue vigorously this year.
Najafi also mentioned the crackdown on illegal electricity consumption, stating that in the first six months of this year, 822 illegal cryptocurrency mining devices have been identified in the province, with their electricity consumption equivalent to that of about 8,220 households and nearly 2.8 megawatts. These actions include the collection of about 14,000 illegal connections and nearly 40 kilometers of illegal electricity cables in the province, which has led to a reduction of about 42 megawatts from the province's consumption capacity.
Public Participation and Cultural Awareness
Najafi continued by referring to the incentives provided for identifying illegal cryptocurrency mining centers and stated that rewards have been considered for reporting illegal devices, and public participation in identifying these cases can help better manage electricity consumption. Kermanshah province, with a population of over 2 million, has a gas supply penetration rate of 99.5 percent, and all cities and 2,330 villages in the province benefit from this blessing.
The province's electricity distribution network, with 11,758 kilometers of overhead lines and a capacity of 2,153 megawatts, serves 785,000 subscribers, 83 percent of whom are residential.
