Hai An Shipping has recently approved a new investment worth up to $70 million for the construction of two new oil tankers at a shipyard in China. This move is part of the company's fleet expansion plan and aims to increase capacity in the small cargo ship sector.
Investment Details and Tanker Features
Hai An Shipping, which is listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, plans to produce two ships with a capacity of 1,928 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) at the Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard. This project also includes collaboration with China Shipbuilding Trading.

A letter signed in August has set the construction package value of these ships at $66.96 million, meaning a cost of $33.48 million for each tanker. The remaining resources from the approved ceiling of $70 million will be allocated for initial equipment, project personnel, and related expenses.
Completion Planning and Impact on the Fleet
The completion of these ships is scheduled for the end of October and November 2029. This new project adds to Hai An Shipping's extensive fleet expansion plans, which in 2025 included an order for two more ships with a capacity of 3,000 TEU and an option to purchase two additional ships at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding.
The new ships are designed to assist the company's move towards larger ship classes, while the new pair of 1,928 TEU will also help increase capacity in the small cargo sector where Hai An operates.
This investment reflects Hai An's commitment to expanding its fleet and strengthening its position in the maritime transport market. The company is developing its fleet with the aim of improving service quality and increasing operational efficiency.
