Eidesvik Offshore, the owner of Norwegian marine vessels, has recently signed a new contract for the platform supply vessel Viking Queen. This contract is for a duration of 290 days for drilling at a specified well and allows the vessel to exit the Spot market. The start date for this drilling campaign will be early next year.

Contract Details and Status of the Viking Queen

The new contract from Eidesvik Offshore has been officially announced, but the customer for this contract has not yet been disclosed. This contract provides necessary coverage for the Viking Queen, which has been operating in the Spot market since October 2025 after completing its previous work with Harbour Energy. The Viking Queen, built in 2008, has a weight of 6,200 tons and dual-fuel LNG capability, with a 1,000 square meter deck space. Additionally, this vessel is equipped with a 652 kilowatt-hour battery system.

Revamping Eidesvik Offshore's Status and Future Outlook

The return of the Viking Queen to contractual work is a sign of Eidesvik Offshore's efforts to rebuild its contract inventory. In June, the company signed a new four-year contract with Aker BP and also secured a three-year charter for the vessel Viking Prince. Meanwhile, Equinor has activated remaining options on the long-serving vessel Viking Avant, keeping it busy until the end of this year.

At the end of the second quarter, Eidesvik Offshore announced that the company's inventory of suspended contracts is approximately 2.9 billion Norwegian kroner (NOK), and it is seeking long-term opportunities for its available vessels, especially the Viking Queen. These activities clearly demonstrate Eidesvik's persistent efforts to secure sustainable contracts in the drilling market.
