Ehsan Dashtiane, a board member of the Iranian Steel Producers Association, recently referred to the challenges facing the country's steel industry and identified sustainable energy supply as a fundamental condition for the continuation of production in this sector.

Impact of Attacks on the Steel Industry

Dashtiane stated that the steel industry, like other economic sectors, has been affected by the conditions of war. He referred to attacks on steel units that have caused serious damage to this industry. However, he emphasized that the efforts of engineers and experts in this field have enabled production units to return to operation, and the remaining sectors are also returning to normal status.

He added: "This attack demonstrates the importance of the steel industry in the country's economy, and the capacities created in this sector highlight Iran's position as an industrial country in the Middle East and North Africa."

Energy Imbalance Challenge

A board member of the Iranian Steel Producers Association further pointed out the challenge of energy imbalance, stating that this issue has now become the most important problem for the steel industry. He urged the government to resolve the energy supply issue as much as possible, considering the conditions of this industry.

Dashtiane emphasized: "In terms of energy imbalance, the steel industry has suffered serious damage, and significant restrictions have been imposed on this sector." He also referred to the serious actions and positions of the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, stating that there is still a need for serious actions from the Ministries of Energy and Oil regarding energy supply.

He noted: "The expectation of the steel industry is that the President's directive to reduce energy restrictions on industries should be prioritized, and electricity and gas supplies to industrial units should not be cut off as much as possible."

Necessity of Gas Conservation

Ehsan Dashtiane continued by discussing the need for gas supply for industries, saying: "Given the existing limitations, conserving gas consumption is essential, and it is expected that the public will cooperate in this regard."

In recent years, energy imbalance has become one of the main challenges for large industries, including the steel industry. The limitations on electricity and gas supply not only reduce production capacity but also affect the planning of industrial units and the supply chain. Ultimately, this issue can lead to job reductions and harm sectors dependent on the steel industry.
