Mehdi Hosseini, the Director General of the Planning, Budget, and Regulations Office of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA), emphasized the necessity of diversifying the development models of renewable power plants and attracting public investments. He stated that the development of small-scale power plants and facilitating the participation of small investors are among the effective solutions for increasing clean electricity production capacity by the peak summer consumption of 2027.
Trends in the Development of Renewable Power Plants
Hosseini pointed out that the capacity of operational renewable power plants in the country has reached approximately 6,200 megawatts. Of this amount, about 5,043 megawatts are allocated to medium and large solar power plants, and approximately 538 megawatts to distributed solar power plants. He also mentioned the registration of nearly 49,000 distributed solar power plants in the country and considered the participation of the public and small investors as one of the important capacities for the development of renewable energies.

Future Capacities and Development Solutions
The Director General of the Planning, Budget, and Regulations Office of SATBA emphasized the capacity of renewable projects under construction, stating: "More than 6,000 megawatts of renewable power capacity is under construction, and the capacity of planned projects is estimated to be around 6,073 megawatts by the peak electricity consumption in 2027. This capacity, with accelerated project implementation, can help strengthen the country's electricity production capability during peak consumption periods."
Hosseini also mentioned the development of green electricity aggregation entities as another solution to facilitate the presence of small power plants in the electricity market. These entities, by aggregating the production capacity of small-scale power plants, enable their more effective presence in the electricity market and supply electricity to consumers, especially industries. The Director General of SATBA emphasized the importance of developing energy storage systems and facilitating investment processes, adding that these measures can reduce the barriers for small investments to enter the electricity industry.
He concluded by noting that achieving the goals of renewable power plant development requires synergy of supportive policies, strengthening market-oriented mechanisms, and sustainable financing. This set of actions can increase the share of clean electricity in the country's production mix, help manage electricity imbalance, and enhance energy security during the peak consumption period of 2027.
