Deutsche Windtechnik has secured a comprehensive maintenance contract for all 12 turbines at the Alpha Ventus wind farm located in the North Sea. This contract will commence in January 2027 and includes servicing the turbines, maintenance, troubleshooting, and related technical support.
Contract Details and Scope of Services
From September 2027, the scope of services will significantly expand to include remote monitoring, marine coordination center services, network management, and 24/7 alert management. Background and Importance of the Alpha Ventus Wind Farm
The Alpha Ventus wind farm, which was launched in 2010, is considered the first offshore wind farm in Germany and has served as an important testbed for technologies and maintenance practices that were later used in the German offshore wind industry. This project, located about 45 kilometers north of Borkum, includes six Senvion 5M turbines and six AREVA Multibrid M5000 units.
Deutsche Windtechnik has previously provided maintenance services for this project, starting with the Senvion turbines in 2017 and expanding to the AREVA units in 2020. Both contracts will conclude at the end of 2024, and this new contract allows the company to return to the wind farm under new ownership.
Ocean Breeze Energy will retain responsibility for managing the technical design at higher levels. This contract also strengthens Deutsche Windtechnik's marine operations around Borkum, where the company currently provides services for the Riffgat and Trianel Windpark Borkum I projects.
