DeepOcean has signed a contract for the Razor repair project with Tullow Ghana Ltd, a subsidiary of Tullow Oil based in the UK. This project will be executed at the Jubilee oil field, one of the most significant offshore oil developments in West Africa, located about 60 kilometers off the coast of Ghana and at a water depth of approximately 1,100 meters.

Operations at the Jubilee Field

DeepOcean will use an underwater construction vessel named Orient Adventurer for offshore operations. This vessel, previously known as Polar Onyx, will be utilized for the Razor repair project between the subsea production system of the field and the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah, which has a processing capacity of over 120,000 barrels of oil per day.

DeepOcean's Expertise and Experience

Øyvind Mikaelsen, CEO of DeepOcean, stated: "The replacement and rehabilitation of the Razor is one of our core competencies for both onshore and offshore teams, and we look forward to Tullow's support in this project. Our strong presence in Accra and Takoradi, along with DeepOcean's technical expertise in subsea Razor operations, has been influential in securing this contract." Offshore operations are scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The Orient Adventurer has recently undergone a major upgrade and refurbishment, equipped with an under-deck carousel with a capacity of 2,500 tons and a refurbished vertical lay system (VLS) with a dynamic capacity of 275 tons. Robin Mawhinney, Executive Vice President of DeepOcean in the EMEA region, said: "We have previously successfully utilized the Orient Adventurer in subsea construction projects in Ghana and are familiar with the vessel's capabilities in the region. The vertical lay system of this vessel makes it particularly suitable for the safe and effective deployment of Razors through the moon pool."
