DeepOcean and TFKable have recently announced plans to construct a new vessel for offshore wind cables. This vessel will be jointly operated by a new company that includes the Polish State Industrial Development Agency (ARP). No specific details regarding technical specifications, contract value, or delivery date for this vessel have been released.
Collaboration Details and Project Goals
This project includes conducting route and seabed surveys, designing, producing, and transporting cables along with their installation, burial, and protection. The companies anticipate gradually introducing their new capabilities as part of a developmental program with key milestones by 2029.

DeepOcean's CEO, Øyvind Mikaelsen, stated: "Offshore wind energy developers are increasingly seeking collaboration and greater integration in the supply chain." He added: "By combining cable manufacturing capabilities and installation at sea, we aim to create a more efficient delivery model." This collaboration reflects the companies' desire to expand their service offerings and improve efficiency in renewable energy projects.
Challenges and Future of the Collaboration
This collaboration still requires approval from competition authorities and the usual closing conditions. In the meantime, DeepOcean and TFKable will continue to independently submit proposals for installation and cable supply work. This independent approach may help them achieve greater flexibility in the current competitive market and seize new opportunities.
It is worth noting that given the increasing demand for renewable energy and the development of infrastructure in this area, establishing such collaborations could play a crucial role in the growth and efficiency of the offshore wind energy industry. Analyses indicate that similar projects may gain increasing importance in the near future, especially considering resource constraints and the need for sustainable energy supply.
