The cooperation agreement between Captain Rado Antolovic, CEO of Drydocks World, and Mr. Jose V J, Chairman and CEO of Cochin Shipyard Ltd., was signed on the sidelines of the BRICS 2026 summit in New Delhi. This agreement was made in the presence of Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Honorable Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and H.E. Omran Sharaf Alhashimi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE for Advanced Sciences and Technology.
Strengthening Cochin's Position as a Marine Service Hub
This partnership helps strengthen Cochin's position as a marine service hub and will create opportunities in ship repair, engineering, construction, and related marine services in the state of Kerala. Captain Rado Antolovic stated, "This partnership with Cochin Shipyard is a significant milestone for the ship repair industry in India and is built on the cooperation agreement signed last year."
Combining Local and Global Capabilities
This partnership combines the shipbuilding and repair capabilities of Cochin Shipyard with the global experience of Drydocks World in high-quality ship maintenance, major modifications, and marine engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC). This facility is strategically located on major international maritime routes and features advanced ship mooring systems and modern docking facilities capable of servicing a wide range of vessels.
Drydocks World and Cochin Shipyard Ltd. will each hold 50 percent of the shares in this partnership, and the initial investment will be provided through equity contributions from both parties. This agreement reflects the commitment of both sides to collaborate in developing India's maritime industry and creating additional capacities in this field.
