CMB.TECH has achieved the sale of another Suezmax tanker

CMB.TECH, the Belgian shipping group led by Alexander Saviris, sold its fifth Suezmax tanker this year. The company announced that it has delivered the 165,000 dwt tanker named "Stella" to its new owner and will record a profit of $59.6 million in the fourth quarter of its financial year.

Details of the sale and market assessment

Although CMB.TECH has not disclosed the exact sale price and buyer, market sources estimate that the deal is worth at least $80 million. CMB.TECH's financial information indicates that the value of the "Stella" tanker and the 2007-built tanker "Ciana" would reach $32.9 million by the end of 2025. "Ciana" was sold for $41.9 million, yielding a profit of $29.2 million. Based on this information, the value of the "Stella" tanker is estimated to be around $20.2 million.

CMB.TECH's future plans and the tanker market

SEB analysts have described this sale as another positive step in CMB.TECH's asset reduction program. According to estimates, "Stella" currently has a value of $85 million, and considering the strength of the secondary market and previous sales facts from CMB.TECH, it is expected that this tanker will not sell for less than this price.

The online pricing platform VesselsValue has listed the Suezmax tanker under the name "Spitfire" with an unknown ownership from Singapore, valued at nearly $95 million. This sale marks the fifth of CMB.TECH's Suezmax sales in 2026 and, along with previous sales, has brought a total of $246 million in reported profits.

The CMB.TECH group has also sold 9 VLCC tankers this year, including a package of six tankers worth $261.1 million, the pair of tankers "Ingrid" and "Ilma" worth $98.2 million, and the 2016-built tanker "Donusa" worth $74.3 million. Including "Stella," the reported profits from the sales of VLCC and Suezmax tankers by CMB.TECH in 2026 are approaching $680 million.

Following the recent sale, CMB.TECH now owns 5 VLCC tankers and 14 other Suezmax tankers, and the group is gradually reducing its reliance on tanker assets.
